Another day older, and deeper in debt

My sister made mention of the fact that here fellow actor, who is playing her daughter, is actually young enough to be her daughter. To boot, the actor is 16. To this, I have no sympathy.

My sister, who is 5.5 years my senior, is finally feeling my pain. Yesterday was my seocnd oldest daughters 9th birthday. My eledest will be 11 in March... You do the math. I am 5.5 years younger than my sister, my daughter is 5.5 years younger than her co-star. This is a reality that I live with everyday.

Still, my baby was 9 yesterday. Seems like a couple months ago that we brought her home from the hospital. This littel angel has gone through more personal reinventions than Madonna. First she was the silent type. Then she was the goofy Noodle. Then she was Pinkie, where everything had to be pink. Now, she likes green and race cars. Oh, did I mention that she has the gift of gab? Truly amazing. Not to mention a razor sharp wit and a dry sense of humor. That to go with well-deep intelligence, unparalleled charity and a unmeasured desire to please. She is still my baby and sometimes it hurts to love her so.

Yesterday was her special day, and I think it was to her, at least I hope it was.

9 more days and the real baby turns 2.... now there is a wildcat! But that is for another posting.

The Madonna analogy works! The Halemeister rules! And, if you think my adorable grandbaby Emily is a wildcat, I can only say two things: first, she is just like you, wild and wonderful, and second, you don't live in T-Town anymore, so doesn't that make her a Red Raider?

Damn! Sorry I missed Haley's b'day. Again. Bad aunt. I have a good excuse, though: we had the first read-through of the Sleeping Beauty script Monday night. Turns out the actress playing the princess is actually older than 16 -- she's in college. She looks exactly the way you'd picture Sleeping Beauty -- a Disney character of blond locks, if mixed with modern day Aguilera -- and looking NOT ONE BIT like any potential daughter of mine. Sigh.

I hope Haley's day was a happy one. Tell her so for me. With love.

It is amazing how fast they grow. People always tell you they grow up too fast, but it just isn't the same until you experience it for yourself. With Casey being 9 already, I just wonder where the time has gone. He dressed up yesterday in his great-grandfathers suit. It was given to me, butCamille decided to let him wear it. He stood in front of the mirror for several minutes looking at himself. He felt big. Needless to say, Camille had to leave the room. I hope it gets better, but I don't think so. Good luck my friend. And Happy Birthday Haley.
